How Climbing Plants Grow
Climbers are plants that naturally want to grow upwards by attaching themselves to trees and other surfaces as they develop. Indoors, giving them something to climb can encourage stronger growth and, depending on the species, increasingly impressive foliage as the plant matures.
You'll find plenty of familiar climbing genera in this collection, including Monsteras, Philodendrons and Epipremnums, alongside some less familiar faces. Not every climber needs to be put on a support straight away, though. Many young plants are perfectly happy trailing from a pot or hanging planter before their climbing habit becomes more pronounced.
If you're specifically looking for plants we'd recommend growing vertically from the outset, explore Climbing Support in our Ideal Setup collection. Prefer something that spills over an edge instead? Take a look at our Trailer plants.
