How Clumping Plants Grow
Clumpers grow by producing new shoots, stems or growing points close to the base of the plant. Rather than travelling across the pot or reaching for something to climb, they gradually fill out around themselves and develop into denser, fuller plants.
That makes clumping plants a great choice when you want foliage with a naturally contained shape. Some stay relatively compact, while others can eventually become substantial specimens, so check the individual listing for the size and growth you can expect from each variety.
Looking for a different shape? Explore Upright plants for more vertical growth, or Creeper plants if you'd rather watch them travel.
