What Does Cane-Forming Mean?
Cane-forming plants develop upright, elongated stems as they grow, creating a more structured shape than plants that trail, creep or form a compact clump. New growth develops along or from these stems, and the plant's character becomes more obvious as it matures.
This growth habit can be a good choice when you want height and foliage without the sprawling growth of a trailer or creeper. The exact shape and eventual size will vary between species, so check the individual plant listing to see what to expect as your plant grows.
Looking for other ways plants grow? Explore our Upright plants for more vertical growers, or Climber if you'd rather give your plant something to grab onto.
